A Fresh Approach to a Shopfront Fascia

Brief

Feather & Black’s Bristol store is located in two adjacent properties. When it became time for a complete refurbishment in their re-branded colours, it provided a great opportunity to standardise their shopfront fascia too.

Inside and out, our brief was to make good and decorate the shop floor walls and ceilings in the new brand colours, as well as to sand or re-lay the flooring, remove display shelving and construct a new cash desk.

Action

Fascia

Our biggest challenge was constructing a new angled fascia to the right-hand shopfront. We removed the ‘Feather & Black’ lettering from both fascias and mapped out the fixing holes for the right-hand fascia in order to reinstate in a new position and re-paint black. Then we reinstated the lettering to the left-hand fascia in its existing position, mapping out the fixing holes and re-placing the new lettering.

To complete the new look, we removed the existing sign lights and upgraded the existing fascia illumination floodlights with swan neck lamps finished in black. We also repaired the lead flashing along the top section of both fascias.

Entrance

The original entrance to the shop included a mosaic tiled step. We cleaned and sealed the mosaic tiles for use in the new entrance.

Shop Floor

Inside we had to make good and decorate the shop floor walls and ceilings in new brand colours. This included boarding over a skylight, as well as locating and rectifying the cause of damp and mould possibly due to an external air conditioning leak.

We fitted new power cables into the wall and installed an additional double plug socket on the other side, as well as replacing existing LED’s in display cabinets.

Flooring

The floor at the front of store area needed sanding and re-sealing. Whilst the flooring to the rear upper level had to be uplifted and disposed of, before supplying and laying new flooring.

We also removed the existing display shelving which opened up the front of the store constructing a new cash desk from the client’s design.

We created a fresh and consistent look across both shopfronts, emphasising Feather & Black’s re-branded identity. This adds to the bright, inviting approach to the shop floor which has been updated to provide a new space for customers to experience all that Feather & Black have to offer.
